I forgot to mention in my previous release post that the new version also features named mini-bosses. You will now be able to encounter beefed up versions of existing monsters. These mini-bosses will have randomly generated names such as 'Vilefang' the Ginat Spider and 'Lûgdûsh' the Orc.
What do you think about unlockable characters? for example: vampire, after dying to a vampire, orc after killing 5 named orcs in one game, goblin king after finishing the game, also, wizard after killing a dark wizard with both archer and knight. Possibly a rat after killing 200 rats. They should all be special - vampire with life drain, orc commanding goblins, goblin king only using wands(but with 5x charges). And rat with poison and high evasion. After getting to lvl 10 With it you can start with 10k gold.
ReplyDeleteHmm, I'm not sure about this. I would like to extend the game more though, but I'm not sure how. I think I need to add more variation to the existing game first. More monsters, more dungeon themes, more spells etc. Thanks for the suggestion though!
ReplyDeleteHi Björn check your g-mail.
ReplyDeleteI have question: where is save file for dweller beacouse even if I delete aplication and re-download it its still contains saved game.
I have list of bugs that occured when I've played dweller 1.4.0. But I dont want you to overwhelm you with it now.
I assume you are using Android? Dweller uses the Internal Storage on Android (http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/data/data-storage.html#filesInternal). The specification clearly state that "When the user uninstalls your application, these files are removed". I can't explain why the save game remains after uninstall. Weird.
ReplyDeleteBtw, please feel free to e-mail me any bugs or post them here!
ReplyDeleteI use j2se version beacouse my phone sucks... I cant find save file on my pc. I am using windows 7.
ReplyDeleteBTW search in your g-mail topic :
"Dweller (1.4.0) - Suggestions - issues - bugs part 3" I've written that...
all those bugs happen on j2se version+windows 7 ! i didnt tested J2ME version yet ! (maybe this version is only bugged)
Ah, I see. Save file is in Users//dweller/
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI have some suggestions regarding inventory. First it would be nice to be able to equip two rings at once (Since you have two hands, not to mention ten fingers :o) But two is standard in many other RPG games). Second it would be nice to show total and maximum weight of inventory somewhere in inventory menu and not only in character screen. Also show weight of each item directly in item list, since it is not very comfortable when you want to pick up some heavy item to try to drop various items in order to avoid "full inventory" message.
Also regarding UI, on 240x320 screens menu fonts are too big and inventory is therefore a bit confusing. It would be nice either to use smaller font (e.g. the same as in-game popup messages), or rework inventory so that only grid of icons is shown and all texts are displayed in some static text box below.
Also please consider to put character status text back to original bottom line. Because in case you are cursed and your attack/defense/speed/magic is lowered it would be nice to see it directly on main screen. Also larger values, e.g. XP greater than 100 are leaking from current status box.

Petr: Yes, the limitation of one ring is pretty artificial. As you say, one has ten fingers :-) In other games there is also an artificial limit of two, one per ring-finger. You may interpret the one-ring-only limit of Dweller as something related to the tradition of why a wedding band is always put on the left ring-finger: "According to tradition in some countries (derived from Roman belief), the wedding ring is worn on the left ring finger because the vein in the left ring finger, referred to as the vena amoris, was believed to be directly connected to the heart, a symbol of love" (wikipedia). Let's say that in Dweller there is a similar constrain where the magic power of a ring only can be transfered to the wearer if worn on the left-ring finger due to the "vena magicus".
ReplyDeleteI agree that the Inventory is a bit "clunky". I should probably switch to a grid-like setup instead, but that's for a future version. I have added it to my todo and idea list.
Are you using an Android handset btw?
Hi,
ReplyDeleteno, I'm using J2ME (SE C702)
